Getting the word out about getting the words and music out

HAZZARDAYRE LOGO 1hazzardayre after hours

Getting the word out about getting the words and music of HazzardAyre Radio out.

It takes a lot to rebuild. Even if you were once the hottest ticket on standard airwaves and online it takes your best efforts just to stay current. But then came the idiotic concept of moving things from Woods Cross Utah where we hotter than a Saturday night special, to going colder than Jack Frosts testicles here in Evanston Wyoming. The coldness started when one in fact the only line of site wireless Internet provider service NGL, lets us on in December, and even when I had paid the bill because I complimented one of the lady clerks there on how poised and efficient she was, they decided to unplug me. So it took until March just to get the equipment back, get on AllWest and get back on some sort of airings. Then came a storm that took out the big stick on the Mountain for us and it took a bit to get us back on the terrestrial airwaves. So any mile. There’s quite a few that don’t even know we are back up, and so this involves spending some extra cash out of the stash to get us in gear here. Over the next few months you’ll hear ads on such places as CsC Talk Radio, you’ll see ads on FoX 13 News in the morning, METV and other outlets which is why we have been trying to find some snazzy skirts in hose and heels to tell you where to find the best online radio for those that groove to 6 and 18 wheels. But some folks think that I need to find a personal SheWolf here, let me inform those that are working with a stripped timing chain. If I needed to get laid that bad, my LiL truck, even with a slight oil leak, two tanks of fuel and $400.00 and I’m in Wells Nevada at the Sugar Shack. For the none queer male corpuscles needing what we do for you overnight as you move the loads and those who tow on that open road, getting a local gal to pitch the gig, on those TV ads, and trade and enthusiasts magazines will be quite keen. And to have her be a local gal from here in or near Evanston would be so dear.

Rebuilding HazzardAyre back into the power house we once was is going to take time, but its happening. BTW, we are going to be going to a new service, and leaving Livestream in August. A service that supplies the streaming for CsC Talk Radio can do it quite affordably, so be watching for the news on that groove real soon.

We’ll be off air until Saturday at noon, on there we’ll be back Saturday at 13:00 with Highway Hooker Radio the only show on radio for us who tow, at www.livestream.com/highwayhookerradio and Saturday evening we’ll be on www.livestream.com/ayrewolffm and then back on Sunday morning at www.livestream.com/hazzardayre with HazzardAyre Radio. Samcro Radio will be on Sunday evening starting at 18:00 at www.livestream.com/samcroradio . It’s all a rebuild and reboot. But its getting there.

Romantic dreamy nytes

HAZZARDAYRE LOGO 1Good Morning

A grand morning as we wrap up another HazzardAyre Live on KDXL AM 1240 .

I was remembering back to another morning pretty much like this early morning at 02:26 hours, we tell time Marine style okay? Get over it. Any flyte, so I was working our original station run, and I remember walking out on the cement porch in front of our studios there in Hazzard, Idaho and while this may not seem romantic to you, the glow from old Sandy’s Dairy, the aroma of those old go-go girls dripping milk into those big buckets, the smells of fresh cut alphalpha and silage, the whole night was absolutely amazing. There, in that time and space its just a crystal clear dark blue purple sky, those small sparkly beams of light so many light miles from our tiny third rock from a solar sun, and the humm of those 18 wheels out on old Highway U.S. 30 the burble of Hazzard Creek, the bullfrogs mating , its just a romantic night.

Those that have never been to our REAL HAZZARD, are missing something very relaxing and at the same time rejuvenating of body mind and yes even soul.

No stress , no big deal except considering how fast I could haul my cookies to Twin to get my weekly pay out of the ATM at then Key Bank there, and to IHOP for breakfast.

It’s not that destination but the drive over. Out in the middle of our shine running kountry which we and I’ll admit it we did on a regular basis. There’s just something magic of that truly Magic Valley, and I sure do miss it. But circumstances being what they are right now, can’t go back at least just not yet. Even if I could, that house in Hazzard houses other people, outside of Ricky and the A1 crew including Jared and Charlie, There’s no real family there any more, so while romantic and all that living there again would be, I’m closer now to my kin folk now than I have been in quite some time, but my do I miss Hazzard.

Hazzard is not just a place of real estate, it’s a place in the heart. It’s in your soul, and for relaxing techniques I kick back close my eyes, and just fade away to those memories of yesteryear, there.

As I close for this morning and head for my bed that I’d love to remain in, until 11:30 Hours, We tried to upload to our LiveStream feed, but low bandwidth, and weather prevented that but at least we delivered over terrestrial radio any way.

This is not a Cookie Cutter gig

HazzardAyre Logo3DAWN OF THE WOLF

The one thing HazzardAyre isn’t, is cookie cutter or another copy of some distant memory of some distant time of radio. In fact one of the things that makes our critics and others so upset is they can’t catorgize us. We’re not AC, we’re no talk, we’re not disco, rock nor anything that can put in a tiny corner and say this is them. We’re all over the place, music as well as style. So We suggest a new pigeon hole for them, we are simply Rebel Confederate Radio. Period. That just about sums it up. We are full throttle, fight the system radio.

But how long we’ll be in grand old Evanston is still up in the air, which is what I tried to explain countless times to our sweet sugar babe at CenturyLink. It’s not for the lack of the cause, its for the lack of finding, albeit 90% female in studio co anchors or hosts if you will here in Evanston. Not That Twin Falls or immediate area or even big city Salt Lake City was any picinic , but at least we’d get SOMEBODY in a skirt and hose and heels to show up. Here? Nothing. So to you Daniela , it might be a bit premature to file any paperwork with your company CenturyLink, it might be better if ya’ll waited a month or so. Reason we just might have to relocate this gig back into the mothership in Burley or Twin Falls Idaho.

Last night got a bit of a up lift from a gal in Colorado or wherever the 303 area code is. Seemed groovy enough, but I think she might be a bit too shy for HazzardAyre, SAMCRO RADIO, Maximum Overdrive or Highway Hooker Radio. As far as AyreWolfFM ? I’m leaving that open for a freshly discharged Marine lady to fill that co host(Anchor) spot. Preferably an Marine Aviator(PILOT).

Wrapping this up. I watched the final monolog of David Letterman’s show. For me and this might be a bit harsh, but thank goodness for us your gone Dave. I never really got into that show. I’ve only watched it all the way through 4 times in the time he’s been on the air. The ones with Katy Perry, The one with Howard Stern. One with Blonde and the one with Pink Floyd. The rest of it I couldn’t give a rats butt for. The only reason and I know this from the person himself, that Stern did Letterman was in protest with and about his treatment at WNBC NYC. Past that he didn’t care much for old and I mean OLD Dave.

See you all in the afternoon, I’m now going on our local air here in Wyoming.

The intimacy of radio

HAZZARDAYRE BANNER NEWCOOTERS TOEW TYMEZ

I’m always surprised to see the responses, the few that there are to our on air co-anchor openings here at HazzardAyre Radio. I always wonder if I put in our wording of the ads , Southern bred biker kountry gal needed to co-host(Anchor) radical, rebel radio show. Maybe that would clear up the confusion. Maybe then and most likely only then would we get people walking in with the aptitude as well as attitude as well as extraverted personality to be in a 10X10 studio for 6 long hours of off the wall full throttle radio. Yet a few read the ad, look up grand old Evanston and think tiny town and a medium market. Thing is few realize going on the air with me, means a wide array of potential future opportunities either in our broadcast area as well as others, and many while they try to copy HazzardAyre, never quite duplicate it. Never will we be way over the top, never will I be as smutty as Stern, I’m more of a kountry fied high octane tow trucker turned radio person.

Some ask how the two really go together. I simply say in reply, that much of what is now HazzardAyre really started on a 50 watt LPFM, just outside of the small town of Hagerman Idaho in 1975. Shortly after the roots of the Knytes were in its infancy, the frustration of that all too many long haul truckers had radio shows and such for them, but us in towing had no real radio or media voice except for a few trade magazines. So in 1984 after becoming legal, the original call letter KTOW or KAY TOW FM 105.7 went on the air. The focal show was named after my towing company Highway Hooker Toewing, we combined the two words TOW and TOE on purpose. Reason being even legendary radio people doing us liners and intros , never could pronounce right the word TOW. They always pronounced it like COW, not TOE. So out of frustration an intern of mine said just scrunch the words together. Okay, in 2012 we had to sell the call letters to another station in Colorado. And we went on the air with KDXC or KAY, DIX, C(see) . Which we still run on today in Idaho, here in Wyoming there’s new call letters but I don’t usually utter those on the blog, only on the air. After we started doing Highway Hooker Radio, there came a show aimed at the heavy duty tow jocks out there, and so Heavy Hooker Radio was born. Not only did the tow truckers dig on what we were doing so did the over the road truckers. So in 1991 we launched Dixie Diesel Trucker Radio, and just made Heavy Hooker Radio part of that. It was much easier to publicize Dixie Diesel than most things Hooker as not everybody gets the connection between a lady of the night and the cb slang term for tow truck. I’m not the only one that brought this up and use it an example>happy hookerothers have too. Getting back on course. In 1981 the Hazzard thing bit me and bit me hard. While we touring our General Lee Dodge Charger, about the 2nd night at the all inclusive Salt Lake City AutoRama I conceded that I did not look like Bo or Luke Duke nor did my side kick, but I did resemble very closely the small town tow trucker of Hazzard County Crazy Cooter , hey you be the judge even looking at us now>two cooters kinda romanticSo rather than go ape stuff over ye ole General I figured why not exploit the Hazzard County Garage thing and build the ultimate super toew truck of ye ole Cooter, hence LexiBelle>lexi in green minilexiso that’s that on that.

So the Intimacy of radio. Radio is very intimate. Your inside a small box under the pillow, inside the truck cab, in your wives bedrooms, showers and whew, pee ewe even the restroom. Your where ever your listener may happen to be. For me it’s the one time I can truly be me. I’m not towing, or romancing farmers in a helicopter spraying their fields. I’m inside my control room studio, all cuddled up with many of you relating anything and everything that comes to mind from relationship advice to questions of sexual healing to the latest 411 on the trucking and towing industries. This kind of intimacy scares the crap out of most female co anchors, after all few are Robin Quivers of Howard Stern fame, I’ve only had two that I really flowed with. One was my Robin in Rupert in 1992 and Erin our Nurse GoodBody, on our station in Gooding Idaho. Robin went on to be a network exec at NBC Radio and the other is a PSR Head shrink in Twin Falls. I still keep in touch with both. Few will do this>alasweet toewsor this>just me and erinor even this>happytoesbut to have a comedic side kick in the studio would be great that didn’t have the frustrating super reserved attitude.

In closing, we’ll not be on air again tonight at least LIVE locally and not on Livestream, as I’m still working on the tragedy that took ten of our MC’s members in that battle in Waco Texas over the weekend. I’ll be on though Thursday night into Friday morning.

Mastering the kraft

HAZZARDAYRE BLOG HEDDER2AYREWOLFBLOGHEADER

There is an art if you will, of assembling content for an online as well as a over the air radio station. Then there is the art of delivering that content. It’s not the easy task that many can’t or wont even try. The profession will burn one out quickly, especially if your wearing all the hats, from the manager, program director, human resources manager, news director and then on air person. It makes for 13 hour days even on easy days. Then in my case finding time to fly, go on tows and do some wrenching on my equipment, it again makes for very long days and not much overnight sleep. Then there is finding time to at least shovel some sort of food in my mouth, going to the latrine, and do domestic chores. Hell I rinse my shorts in the sink, as there’s hardly any time to go do laundry.

Once you get past that its climb inside your radio every night into early morning, catching a few hours of sleep between 09:00 to noon, then doing it all over again, with the only time out is going to Church. Even after Church I’m back on the job getting things to do radio again overnight.

Some guy on our Livestream page was commenting about cases of dead air. Hey if I had the leggy female in the studio co-anchoring the show, perhaps when I got a tow call, my main bread and butter , there wouldn’t be dead air, but when Smokey or County Mounty calls my truck is in motion. A few times of denial of service or not responding customers and law enforcement start calling other tow jockeys . Like Beth Ann of CsC Talk Radio says and I have heard this for years upon years, if your not part of the solution don’t bitch about the problem.

When it comes to radio the Live , real LIVE personality is near a lost thing. Although many personalities of this craft, have went the way of Pod Casts, and that’s not bad, in fact that’s what we did, but our webcasts are frequently LIVE truly LIVE , not recorded affairs. Thus there’s bound to be mistakes occasionally and yes that dreaded thing in radio , DEAD AIR.

Why the leggy ladies in the studio? Stern did it with Robin Quivers, we decided to do it up Hazzard County/HeeHaw style, but with the same southern kountry grit.

Some independent stations do a bunch of voice tracking or farming programming. We are not any different, but we only do two voice network things here on HazzardAyre, and the rest of our channels on Livestream. NPR news, and CsC Talk Radio. the rest we do live 24/7/365. Plus there’s the over the air programming we do that is not on Livestream.

So to all the detractors and complainers, I say if you think you can do what I do better, with all the tasks I need to do daily, your more than welcome to apply to us for a career opportunity. Otherwise shut the heck up.

Touchy subject and how radio pays

HazzardAyre Logo3wake up

All the way from Hazzard Idaho I’m already getting calls. Seems as though the radio ads running on Maximum Overdrive Radio is already netting calls from all parts. That’s the 7th call I’ve gotten. Between the radio ads and the yelp ad that’s free by the way, we are knocking em down, just shows what a GOOD radio ad effort gets you.

Of course I know that not everybody takes the risks we do.

Example, wrote a piece and emailed it to Beth Ann at CSC Talk Radio concerning the FCC air(land) Grab. Few radio talk shows will address this as it bites at the very heels that makes them a living. No don’t yap about the big conglomerate radio station organizations, no don’t do that, but we will. We here at all parts of HazzardAyre Radio are not governed by stock holders and fussy advertisers, only people my staff needs to fuss with is the members of a military aviator / trucker/gear head / biker club. Past that it’s a pretty much a free for all.

BTW the only radio stations in Idaho, Wyoming and Utah airing Beth Ann’s show CsC Talk Radio is ours, maybe she ought to jump in and do a suggested topic, from one of those who feeds her,

Stay tuned CsC Talk Radio is coming up at the top of the hour.

Knytes Scroll #9 FCC Land Grab

HazzardAyre Logo3COOTERS TOEW TYMEZ

Beth Ann on CSC Talk Radio was on a subject of the EPA land grab and taking away water rights. This is the fear we here every day, somebody taking away our rights to be individuals and caring for our families. So with that in mind, let’s explore another bunch of land grabs, more on the realm of air grabs.

Back in 2005 Under President Bush by the way, got the FCC to start sniffing around to get more radio spectrum, to enable our local police and emergency first responders better communications. Okay fine on its face, but then came the promise of a Federally funded and supported free fast bandwidth Internet of course monitored closely by the Feds. It was under the great Patriot Act. then a few enterprising zealots at Verizon and A.T.&.T. wanted more spectrum for cell phone communications. That fracas kicked the idea of the free internet project for rural America in the head but that dang Cell phone thing pushed some buttons. So the FCC that is an agency that is really off step and out of touch and so damn political that it stinks, started telling TV stations we just have to go digital. Killing analog TV signals. Now everyone had to go out and buy NEW digital capable TV’s, the only protection was if you had satellite or cable as most of the set top boxes had built in digital to analog converters in them. Or at least they did for a time. Some area LPTV stations with analog capabilities were able to broadcast into areas where people that had no ability to just run out and buy new digital TV’s. The analog stations lived, but short lives. Then came a new idea, lets downsize the FCC, in some of our minds this was a great idea, Uncle Obama was off our shoulders. Not so fast there Bucko, now the idea is to migrate AM stations, many who serve small rural towns and farm areas into a digital system, and hand off the AM band as you and I know it to the FM’s, many of which do not live or work, or give a care of the areas they are snuffing out. Two years ago the FCC opened up a very narrow filing window for low power FM’s to get Construction permits and licenses. This was a great idea, until you started seeing the favoritism of the FCC to grant licenses to minority, religious and native American applicants. More over to grant licenses to schools, and universities. If you were anyone or a group just slightly out of that perimeter you were just SOL, and Heavens sake if you were a group of military aviators fighting range fires saving some celebrities homes in Sun Valley Idaho, and couldn’t file to be able to get a filing extension. Nope, no way. Now there’s the problem of the downsizing and closing of FCC field offices across the nation, and concentrate efforts and resources in BIG metro areas. Forget rural areas, forget the fact that many of these pirate stations do a better job than the big radio companies like Cumulus and IHeart. IHeart is a fancy name for what was known as Clear Channel, which owns the Premier Radio network that among others rebroadcasts such shows as Rush Limbaugh and Coast to Coast AM. Now I can see some problems, pirates will be targeted by the so called LEGAL stations, and reported, fined and most will shut down for a time. But here’s the problem, most of those fully LEGAL licensed stations wont hesitate for one moment of upping power not legally, for over powering the air waves and fringing on each other. If Beth Ann and CSC Talk Radio wants to do a show this would be a subject I’d love to comment on and most likely affect those very stations that carry her show over the air. Some of us like HazzardAyre and others got lucky and by the very thinnest of our pubic hairs got legal , but what about the many low watt stations that can’t get licenses because of the restrictions that are levied on them by these big conglomerate radio broadcasting companies, but still deliver local news and information that the bigger well deep pocketed station groups don’t care about? Beth Ann and CSC Talk Radio needs to jump on this topic.

Okay, I’m still under the weather health wise so no HazzardAyre or anything on tonight but I will give it my best to be on Thursday morning. If your wondering, the only way we can get a signal up is at night when the bandwidth is better. Hey its rural America and a tiny cable internet company called ALLWest that has our nuts in a vise. However there are changes coming with the move of the studio into the Wells Fargo building and CenturyLink to give us 1gig, air time.

This is a factor of our times, the entire nation for two decades has had our freedom in a ball and chain. There is a solution that solution has this flag on it>c1unlike it should be like this>the way it ought 2b in my opinion, if there’s open signal space in rural America aka free air space, that is not on the open radar of the FCC why shouldn’t someone that wants to go legal not be able to do so?

More on Thursdays show, heard on www.livestream.com/hazzardayre BTW still looking for someone to do our formal website up, still looking.
