FastFive comes out today and whyle I cain’t go tonight, will go Sunday. Amid the hype hope FastFive lives up the FastFour. So thinking on hype, for a month , Spike and RTM Productions have gotten us salivating at the new episodes of the line up on The PowerBlock.
From the first editions of PowerBlock, when Steve Evans did NHRA Today and Ed Bruce hosted Truckin USA the predecessor of what they call Trucks, I have seen it all. HorsePower TV was Hot Rod TV , before Hot Rod magazine decided to take back its name for use on their show currently running on SpeedTV. When RTM was eye ballin candidates for Xtreme 4X4, I put in my bid, but no audition tape(DVD) , no got on. But RTM did something smart, put Jessie Combs on there that had gear wrenching know-how, yet had killer looks.
Of course RTM had to have a foxy program guide host. Which they did b4 they got stupid and got way too used Courtney Hansen from Overhaulin who got fyred from that Discovery Channels network show. Rumors have it Courtney was kozying up to one of the producers, and wanted more money. Greed I think killed her gig on Overhaulin.
So she has been at PowerBlock ever since.
Although Speed delivers more serious gearheaded programming, Speed is only available on the more expensive tier of cable systems channel line-up’s. Which is a shame since you need to sign up for that upper tier that has more crap, and requires a digital box to get. Why not just put Speed on expanded basic? Cable-One here in my area, has channel 5 that is just not going, with no expected return. Why not pull Speed from the upper tier and put it there? Then local speed shops like ours could advertise on it during local avails. Cable-One makes more money in ads, speed shops make more $’s in sales, all are happy. But that’s getting off course here.
But all the hype did not render better shows. Take the hint both Spike and RTM , the frost of that pumpkin has done went to slush and onto water. RTM would be better to contract with Confederate Star TV . Better yet, offer the same quality they did when the chrome was still shinny.
So in conclusion, PowerBlock’s new season looks no better than the last one, which means the new younger kid ain’t no smarter. By the roadway, did you see them on Trucks? That new Ranger project isn’t a bad project, but I think they bit off more than they could chew, or had skills to complete, and the shows is evidence of that. Too hodge podge . Trucks ought to con, Stacey to come back to Trucks, as Stacey is not only one heckuva gear head, but also a skilled TruckCrafter. Hey there’s the name for a new show, TruckCraft, stay tuned.
