If ya’ll want to do business with me , ya’ll better answer the phone. Now I’m not a big telecom person. I’d just as soon meet and talk face to face, but there are times when the phone is the best way to go logistically. So I make a phone call, only to find that the person is on a cell phone that has a ridiculous ringtone, or worse don’t answer their phone, no matter what form its in, either cell or landline. Yet they are supposed to be in business or representing a business. About the time I have to make the 12th call with no return call I go elsewhere, for what ever it is.
There are numerous reasons in our nation or at least our immediate area where most people are not making enuff money to really care about their jobs.
The state of Idaho in general is not one of the higher money making states. Wages in Idaho are 40% lower than surrounding states and far less paying than the nation on average Idaho workers make much less than their peers in similar industries .
Take for instance, broadcasting. Many who enter the business do so here yet as they gain experience will move on to other areas where the money is better and career advancement is constant.
But why not do a job, becuzz you like it, and more over why not give it your best? After all , be thankful you have a job at all. Many even college grads are graduating from college with little if any job prospects. I say give it your all. Be proud of what you made or did , enuff to put your name on it. Even if you screw the pooch now and then, own up to the mistake, apologize to the customer with a smile, and get back to work. Think that if you do it good in one place , the recommendation from one employer to the next will be better than if you go to work with a pout, pissed off and acting like your on PMS, that goes for both genders. Greet customers like your really glad they came in to do business with you. Rather than your competition. If you can, try to remember their names, what they like, or order, and serve them up with a smile rather than acting like they interrupted your nap.
Ya’ll can blame Government, the President, or local idiots. All are responsible in part, but the biggest problem to the national job crisis, is; The employees had the employer by the conoles this time around the employers have the upper hand, and we ain’t hiring people who perform bad and have an attitude that’s worse. The dollar bill is harder to make these days and employers are not hiring those who make that dollar even harder to generate.
If you loose an excellent employee, ya’ll better hire someone that is as good or better, or loose new customers as well as old customer loyalty.
That in my next report.
