Should we still say we toew or are we in the Disabled Vehicle Rescue business

A HOOKER TOW BLOG HEADER_thumbnose_picker

As the years begin to creep up on me, I begin to think of how long ago it was when I fell in love so deep its hurts sometimes with doing what I do in vehicle rescue.

I can remember the ongoing controversy of the not calling or calling a vehicle rescue unit, a wrecker or a tow truck. John Hawkins 3rd original founding creator of Tow Times Magazine in 1976 somewhere said, quit calling us wreckers, rather towing and tow operators. One could even say Tow Jockey.

For us with deep pride of our profession, I think we have gotten past just snagging and dragging cars and trucks around at the end of a chain, sling or otherwise. We are called into to do so many specialty services that just maybe a new name for our profession is needed.

Some might add, wreck carcass hauler, crash totter , or even vehicle grim reaper. I’d like to think of myself as a Disabled Vehicle Rescue Technician, or Specialist.

I hate to burst ya’ll’s bubble this time of a Sunday as you sip your 100 weight sea, and read the latest on Facebook or other places, but even though since mid way during my 32 year career in running a hook, and even though a babe in hose showing off her toes to spotlight the two words Toe and Tow, combined becoming TOEW, I’d like to begin an idea, how about we start calling our rigs Disable Vehicle Rescue units, and us Disabled Vehicle Rescue Specialists? Lets get some respect for ourselves, our profession and all from government officials and the public so we can get stiffer laws on things like moving over one lane so we don’t get hit or killed doing our business.

It was a great show last night. For you outside of Utah/Idaho, and western Wyoming, your going to have to wait. We’re having troubles with our streaming service Livestream. So ya’ll cain’t hear us for a few more weeks.

For those here its over the air, and we’re loving , bringing you the toew persons version of HazzardAyre, Highway Hooker Radio.

But I’m spent. More later,

Keep it Tween the ditches.
