Where did summer go?

HAZZARDAYRE HEADER

Where did our summer go this year? Seems as though it just started getting good and warm, and now we are back to cool and damp. Hot and damp is good, especially with a woman in your bed, but not weather wise.

Seems as though less than much has gone right in weather this year. Winter hung on worse than Sheriff Roscoe holding onto Flash and seems that just when you think that you can go play golf, Hong Kong Phooey, no , windy, wet and cooler than normal.

I have said this many times , but I’ll repeat it in this entry as I wonder , how is it that for all the commercial trucks both big and small, that run in our Mini Cassia area, of Idaho, that there are few if any insurance brokers specializing in commercial truck, especially toew truck insurance in our area?

Now here is two things I am concerned about. Bud at this hour is being rushed to the hospital in a meat wagon, will follow up and let all know, that needs to know. Next with some laughter saw the theme to Cassia County Fair this year that goes, “ From Pioneer Days to Modern Days”. Really? Should the theme be , “ From Pioneer days to stagnant” .

Applications are being taken for the Miss AyreWolf/HazzardAyre pageant. For more 411 call me at 208-212-9653.

This years pageant will be much better since it will be held at OUR bar & grill called(what else?) The Reaper Club. Yep right here in Burley.

Keep it wings level,

HazzardAyre TV Viewing is changing and stations need to be ready

HAZZARDAYRE HEADER awdb header1

Television the way you now know it as well as how you knew it is changing. A recent article I read it Broadcast Engineering talked about a report as of May 2011 titled , “ If a TV station broadcasts in the forest “ written by Thomas W Hazlett a professor of law and economics at George Mason University and the managing director of Arlington Economics . Given the title I did not consider or think that the article would be friendly towards the TV industry at least as far as broadcasters is concerned. In Hazlett’s opinion local broadcasters are little more than rusty transmit towers. He went on to say that the TV license continues to hold value not as a gateway to the airwaves but as a toll booth for broadcast network programming. The report goes on this time, calling ota stations a needless expense, propped up not by customer demand (you) technical efficiency or business necessity but legacy regulation generations outdated.

Of course if your like me who grew up in an environment that had four if you were lucky not including the PBS stations but only 3 maybe 4 local network stations with network programming. Of Course in and around Hazzard we had one, KMVT 11 who at the time I grew up was owned by Western Broadcasting Corp. Who was primarily a CBS affiliate, that filled programming in with offerings they felt were safe for YOU to watch by their religious biased opinion. KMVT felt that such shows as Dick Clarks American Bandstand and even NBC’s Emergency was all to racy for YOU to see, especially kids. John Gauge and Roy Desoto running around in that mini paramedic Dodge truck doing multiple rescues was just to much for you to absorb. Then came in the translators.

State wide TV retransmission Translators brought competition to KMVT KTVB brought us Emergency and Adam 12. KBCI gave us CBS programming that KMVT thought to off center to air and KTVB gave us something else, a newscast that was much better than anything being aired by KMVT, situation continues. Its not TV that is outdated its some stations and their head in the sand programmers that’s outdated.

Today we have multiple platforms to see TV, Internet, cable, satellite , TV services like Hulu and Google TV to name a few. Keeping up with Goliath is giving local stations a real challenge, and its not easily met. The national economy which dropped to local merchants has made local TV ad revenue scarce. My thought is why not offer both local production rates as well as air time rates that are relative to the economic times we live in, Not depend on the giants like Wal-Mart, but on local store like Joes Mini Mart might be a direction to travel.

Doing more with less has always been the rule in broadcasting. Engineers often use home built products when the station mangers tell you that buying a fancy gizmo is too expensive.

Of course cable/satellite networks are also blind when peddling air time for advertising. I can tell you that FoX who owns SpeedTV which runs both Wrecked and American Trucker(A title we at HazzardAyre- came up with 5 years ago) as well as the History channel that runs Ice Road Truckers has not extended the welcome mat to trucking industry vendors or suppliers. When was the last time you saw a TV ad on a new Kenworth truck , or a Cat Diesel engine, on one of those shows? When did you see an ad for say Accessories Wholesale(AW) Direct on Wrecked on SpeedTV? Even say Pilot or say Petro Stopping Centers? Even those selling local air time has ignored the industry, and then the crying comes of low income for TV.

Of course, such major sporting events such as NASCAR or the big wedding in London a few months ago, was TV at the top of its game.

We kept in touch and up to date with the debt crisis via TV. The pendulum swings both ways. We see the good, we see the bad. But TV is not dead, but it does need some serious re-creation if its going to stay competitive in the modern environment.

News of the sign up for the Miss AyreWolf/SheWolvez pageant, next entry.

Stay tuned!

I had a bunch of things I wanted to post today, but decided most of them were more on a personal nature and as such declined to post .

If you caught the George Lopez show on TBS last night ya’ll might have caught the poking fun at Casey Anthony gig. This was part of a comedy bit directed at the concept that Kathy Griffin has been nominated for a Emmy.

Wonder how those nominating her would feel about one of their nominees poking fun at both the tragic death of a toddler, and the Mother celeb that she became through as well as both before and after the trial.

If any other radio or TV personality had done that the results would not be pretty.

Comedy is one thing, choosing the subject that is used in the writing as well as in presentation needs to be tethered by some sort moral responsibility.

Remember: Knytes meeting this Saturday at 19:00 hours at the AyreShaq.

AWWB #1

HAZZARDAYRE HEADER AWWB HEADER

Nothing big for this week for the Knytes-of-Anarchy, but the AyreWolvez will be busy. Groundbreaking excersize for the Sheep’s Pen in Burley.

Details at the meeting Saturday the 6th of August 2011 at the AyreShaq , in Rupert.

Saw that the old AyreShaq in Heyburn was once again available, coincidence? Or omen, you be the Judge. Will snoop it out and see if its possible, as being in an entire house, without any neighborhood children or even toddlers in the same complex would make life much better. While its nice to have caring neighbors and even kids who think I’m the best ear to knaw on, does not mean I’m child friendly. I do not like children. So looking at greener pastures.

Especially if I can live in a neighborhood that is not mini Tijuana .

Speaking of Latino’s , have you ever noticed that Latino women have some of fattest butts of any women? They don’t start that way, but by age 35 way too much junk in the trunk.

Stay in the Ayre, don’t forget Officers meeting August 4th at the Wayside and general membership meeting Saturday the 6th of August 2011 at the AyreShaq.

You can find us on FaceBook, ya’ll can find us on Twitter, but ya’ll will never find us on ICQ pee-ewe

HAZZARDAYRE HEADER HAZZARDAYRE PHOOTENOTES

Of all the infant starters of pre broadband internet, ICQ still has not really improved. Sign up is straight forward , but you really need to wait 24 hours for your user name etc is processed to access the account. Then you need to download their software, guess no one told ICQ about cloud operations huh? Which is what operates such things as FaceBook, Twitter, and yes even Google. The Operating software is in the cloud, which is why ya’ll don’t need to download it.

Now with FaceBook, I do have a few pet peeves. First is I have to log on every time I post a blog link, or want to just access the clubs FaceBook Account. Wonder if its different for commercial use. Anymyle, I don’t have to do that with Google nor Twitter.

Okay then, with FaceBook if the content of your postings does not meet up with their family friendly or political standards ya’ll , they file it in a private posting, or YOUR wall, never where all on FaceBook can see or read it. Which is what social media is supposed to be all about. One of the things I find puzzling is why Internet outfits, like; ICQ, is why ICQ does not take advantage of modern technology, kind of like rural Idaho. Its there but no body wants to implement it.

So as I said, ya’ll can find us on FaceBook, ya’ll can find us on Twitter, but never on ICQ.

Reviving the Salt Lake City AutoRama

HAZZARDAYRE HEADER KNYTERYDER JOURNAL

Last night at the monthly of the Knytes-of-Anarchy , an idea was floated that has had my head swimming all damn day today.

In recent years although I have not shown at any area or even regional rod & Custom show, besides the fact nothing too show, but the other has been conflicting dates of shows. In March each year three area ISCA points shows happen within a very few days of each other. The Lewiston AutoRama, the Boise Roadster Show and what used to be billed as the Salt Lake City AutoRama, aka Championship Auto Shows Utah AutoRama, all as I said hit within days of each other. Which makes it a real barn burner to get to each show, participate, tear down your diorama , go to the next show on the schedule, show there, tear down, haul tail to the next. Unless your also going for land speed records with a haul truck and trailer with your custom stuffed inside, you have got to give up one show, which means at least a few ISCA points as well.

In years gone by, back in the day when Mickey Ellis produced the AutoRama, in SLC, the event hit predictably the weekend right before Thanksgiving, every year. It was at the Salt Palace in the middle of SLC instead of way yonder in Sandy at the South Town Expo Center, and the show had rods, customs, etc. It wasn’t a 3 – 1/2 day vendors show with a few hot rods thrown in for good measure. It was the other way around. Custom builders even those building out of their garage aside the house, were the stars, not the damn vendors. Sure I dig having to have a few sponsors to pay the bills of the show, but damn it , I’d pay a higher entry fee if they’d decrease the amount of sponsors/vendors and increase the rods, customs, bikes, trucks, etc.

To whit; The Hazzard County Knytes-aka Knytes-of-Anarchy, have been brainstorming all day on the idea, of renting the same amount of exhibit hall space as the original AutoRama, and stage the show at the Salt Palace, the weekend before Thanksgiving, except give the thing a new name, the Hazzard Nationals. In essence a Dukes fan gang bang, along with one heck of a home grown , and built custom show. Call it an old skool custom show that takes us back to when the rods and rydes were the focus, and life was a bit less stressful, if even for 3 –1/2 days, before Thanksgiving each year. Yes the AutoRama, like it used to be, when it was what was classed as a 6 A or top regional show, where championship points were hot as heck and could take you to the Grand Finale . The Oakland Roadster Show.

We’d like to do it in 2012, but an event with this much gunpowder will take at least a year to organize, produce and execute. But expect it in November 2013 , when I hope to be living in Utah once again. More on that in a few miles, In the meanwhile, this is going to be a ride.

Okay then, as I pull out of the Truck Stop headed home, I got to thinking, you know as much as it pains me, if you notice all the hot and not so hot Caucasian women hooking up with all these Mexican guys? Right? True a bunch of that is to help some of those Latino guys get their green cards, but even so, would this work in reverse? Us truckin males going after the hot and mildly hot Mexican Chiquita’s.

Watch here Sunday for more 411.

Until L8R Ya’ll

Thinking of writing a book on dealing with Pre Warp civilizations

HAZZARDAYRE HEADER MINI HAZZARDAYRE DAY WATCH

STARWOLF LOGO FROM THE WOLFS LAIR

Saying that the population overall of that third rock from a solar sun star is primitive and neanderthaulic is saying it mildly. Seems as mental growth and progression stopped slightly after their solar calendar marked 1980 something. After that seems as the young of this population has became hindered by parents who consume narcotics while the gestation period is transpiring.

In essence we observe a society no matter which continent they live on their minds are still very much of an infantile stage and can’t seem to progress.

The Earth is in tragic despair. Civil War seems eminent and political disturbances and corruption are at epidemic proportions. Yet no matter suggestions of assistance , there are way to many of the population so stuck in their ways and unmovable that no one can help them, without some sort of serious intervention. However due to the prime directive , we are prevented in executing advanced transference of intelligence or advanced assistance.
