Outside Interests

So got another sweet email from Vickie, she’s still willing to be in the mix, but I have some anterior motives for Michele.(No not that) but after I relocate to Evanston in September, I’ll need someone to manage and run the radio station here on a daily basis. Plus a relief on weekends. Which is why I was trying to get Vickie to send up Michele, herself and whoever as guard dogs, to discuss the concept of having Michele as area commander of HazzardAyre/KNAK AM. But now I get to wondering. My feelers are out for alternative talent. Got some kid says he’ll be here on Thursday as a roomy, likewise someone to take this crap hole in September. August is going to be tight time wise. Saturday I fly out from here to Oshkosh, then back Monday. try to train an intern and hopefully Michele, I think $30.00 an hour is a good base wage to work from on the radio side. Then its outta here for Sturgis, that I know was mentioned at minimum of 18 times, even with an open invite for any models wanting to ride up. Still no inquiries. Besides Michele there was this slightly older blonde gal there that would make a great weekender. Of course one that sat the closest to me by Vickie’s staff member in the room, I wanted to explore more of, in a professional manner. But at only 15 minutes each did not get a chance to get the gals to show off what they had.

Then Vickie was saying something of getting to know me and/or the club.

These blogs that I do every day, sometimes 5 times a day, is one of the best ways to get to know us.

Every event, every project, every move except going to the head(rest-room) is chronicled right here in this blog. If someone wants to know me and the club, read the darn blog, that’s why its written.

Finally tonight, saw this kid who says his mother is hot. Looked her up, she is, but she’s a head shrink, and I don’t think such a mundane job pitching the good things of HazzardAyre would be something she’d be interested in. But I think Utah’s images and complacency is being kicked right now. First Utah’s economy looks great, but scratch under the skin and you find transients sleeping in the doorway of an old shopping mall just off of Washington Blvd. You see a web tech, who only pays $75.00 for a desk in a bigger complex. most likely for aesthetics, and of course the states former attorney general, getting arrested. Really a fine calling card for those looking to be part of the domestic peoplesphere. Which is why, Evanston will be the home of both AyreWolf Aviation and of course Cooter’s A1 Toewing.

Not Yet Established, is she kidding?

Last preve eve, as I was just sending an email directed by the club, I got a reply from Vickie of TMG.

In that reply, was the thing that made me think, hasn’t she kept up with the history of us? Mustn’t be, since she gave the impression of us here at Confederate Star Media not being well established. To which I say, really? There are very few excluding KSL, media firms still owned by, still operated by, and still licensed by the FCC to the people who started it. That firm is us. Confederate Star has been in business since 1976, we went on air the fall of 1975, and have been the home of off the wall rebel, anti-establishment radio. There are few TV stations and even some radio stations that don’t shudder when they hear that WE are in town.

Well established? Is she kidding. Now credit wise, not so much, mostly due to things conned into that we decided to back out of and not pay for due to lack of luster results or performance, but the parent of HazzardAyre has never gone bankrupt and we have been kicking Over the air radio’s butt for 40 years how more established can one be?

On the subject of TV.

I saw a revised issuance of FCC fees for new stations, more over a proposed extension for LPTV CP’s. Both are telling me that some filing windows might just be opening. More over new station capabilities. Imagine HazzardAyre as a over the air TV station as well as radio? Not just Internet. Loose in the dust of Hazzard County, some TV station sales execs that are reluctant to return phone calls.

News and views and shows that don’t do just the same old news stories everyone else does.

So to Vickie and TMG as well as some others, not Established? Don’t make me laugh, more like the Wolf in amongst the sheep. And the sheep are worried.

Back in the talent business, a full circle

I am beginning to think that while there are some talent outlets the fact is the ones here are way too expensive for the Mom & Pop business that’s looking for a person, to represent them on such a thing as TV.

The rate for airtime on METV, is outstanding in a good way. At only $250.00 a month, you can’t beat this network for a target for the 50 to 65 demo. All those shows we cuddled up in front of an old RCA black & White tv , to watch. So with that and production being nearly free why add a model to pitch a product or service? Because back in the day of METV shows, you had at least here in Utah, 5 TV stations. Two didn’t do ads, the others were ABC4 Utah, KSL5, and KUTV2. You bought ad time and even a simple pitch was fine since the same ad was on all 3 stations. There wasn’t Internet, On Demand TV, etc. Today that landscape has changed, you had better capture your potential viewing customer, in a fraction of a millisecond or say good by to good money. It doesn’t matter whether your spending $100.00 a month or $5,million a month. If you loose that instant retaining second you might as well take that money and flush it.

So you look for talent. But if just one gal from an agency is going to cost you $3,000.00 your spending more than two months income. Not a great way to get ahead in a business. So what do you do?

I’ve always said there is a need for an agency here in Utah that dealt with the slightly racy, talent for the advertiser looking for spice in their ad. And yet not break that advertisers budget. I’ll have more on this, on the show today at 17:00(5:00PM) but the fact is, looks like the arrangement we had with TMG went sour. Which is sad, in fact the day I went on the first interview, I had a freelance  photographer whose lady friend could have pulled this off but I discharged him and many a talent because I thought Vickie and crew at TMG would work with us. I feel like I got punched in the gut. Maybe its true that you have to go to Hollywood, but I’m not completely convinced.

So I’ve got ads out at all graduate schools, college job boards and drama departments.

We hit a slight snag and this ain’t Hollywood

Well we hit a piece of metal on the racetrack again. While production of the ad for HazzardAyre is low enough in the near free department, after I got over the shock, of the rate Vickie at TMG wanted to have Michele involved, I thought is there a less expensive path here. Like the fact that College is starting very soon, and finding a gal or two looking to picking up extra cash to support school, there might just be someone who can do it. Even if we need to book through such an outfit as Barbizon. Fact is between moving into the new facility in Woods Cross, perfecting the site, and all there is less cash in the stash right now.

Added to that and I thought it was very clear at the first talent interview at TMG, that the first two weeks in August that this two wheeled high octane canine, Wolf is on my way to and being at Sturgis. The last week or so of the month of July I fly to Oshkosh Wisconsin. Plus the airshow in ST. GEORGE, This is who we are and who I am.

Now one would think that with a consistent job board such as ours, shooting features for HazzardAyre, the website, as well as casting for the movie The Hazzard Knytes, you’d think that Vickie could urge Michele, to take a near discount assignment, kind of the test drive before the big buy.

But near $3,000.00 , hey this ain’t Hollywood. From what I gathered at that first interview that many of TMG’s talent could use bookings. But one can’t scalp a client on the first run on that race track.

Found out that Dirk, whose building the bigger site for both HazzardAyre as well as AyreWolfFM, also does freelance video production, and so on. He says he knows some talent.

Ever get the feeling Facebook is frightened of your content?

Ever get the feeling that Facebook is spooked or extremely cautious of what you put on Facebook in Comments. What about the posters? If they’re going to censor you on a page, then don’t ask me to be a Friend of that page.

One of the things we have always done on the pages the Knytes and I put up on Facebook, is to let anyone, say anything in comments. Good or bad we enjoy truth, and honesty, likewise integrity.  That said sure, there are those that do get over the top, but a good thigh bite by the old Wolf, and the situation takes care of itself.

It’s like a few days ago, I get this thing from a posting on LinkedIn about what would I do, if someone trashed the company/club, or stole intellectual property? Simple, my resolve is medium sized bat, meet in person smack em up side the head. Amazing what attitude adjustments do. Oh sure one can be peaceful , best solution, do something physical. Gets people behaving instantly.

But getting back on target.

I leave comments on a page of Move it over for Tow truck Operators on this page called Proud to be part of the Towing Profession. Which I am, but I’ll guarantee you, that few if any of my comments stay up long enough for anyone to read. People want you to support, but not compete. The analogy is here, The Toew Bro’s is the only one of its kind organization wise that has our own media werx inside the group. Meaning we can produce Public Service Announcements(PSA’s) to go on TV , to emphasize the situation. But instead of the page, saying thank you and encouraging us, from those reading that page. All I see is Happy Wrecker Monday.

Sounds like maybe I might get off that page. If your not going to post my comments or a link to what we’re doing, you don’t need my or the 10,000 member strong, Toew Bro’s either.

The list goes on, but why does Facebook want you to have so many friends?

I only want the people I do business with or real friends I know as Facebook friends, not the fony ones that Facebook wants me to add all the time. Of course on that same lane Facebook, will penelize you for putting out too many friend requests.

Why did they do that?

So the race was over and started surfing channels. Seems the more you pay any more the less quality entertainment you get. It’s not the cable/satellite companies, it’s the content providers. Of all of them there is but one network, that has the oomph to keep you coming back. REM TV is good with Starsky & Hutch, BBC AMERICA is good for Star Trek Next Generation, but no Voyager or DS-9, and then we have the one which we here at Confederate Star Media placed our ads for HazzardAyre Radio, and the club, that being METV. From sun up to just after sundown, METV delivers the shows many of us 50 something's grew up with. More over shows you can sit your family down in front of and not be concerned about being scared straight of over sex, or for that matter pools of blood, and body parts being thrown over the room. You get Adam12, Dragnet, Emergency, The Big Valley, on the Weekends you get Batman, Wonder Woman-(if that ain’t sexy, I’ll buy you a root beer at the Boars Nest)- you even get Star Trek TOS-{the Original Series}.

So I watched this remake that should not have been done. Yes the cast was okay, it did look better than the original, But making a remake of the movie Arthur is about as stupid as putting a screen door on a submarine. Which with all of this makes you wonder what happened to the screenwriters in Hollywood?

Detailing the history of the Hazzard Knytes to the Knytes-of-Anarchy, including all that made HazzardAyre and of course the printed word the Confederate Star Tymez, is worth the celluloid to make it.

If Stern’s story is worth telling, the Knytes’ story is even more so. Many of the ladies we are casting as pin ups and focus models will be in the cast of The Hazzard Knytes. The film will open on the background of Candy Campus, a pre school in Layton Utah that gave way to Government take over to build the Layton Parkway Exchange.

The film will be narrated by myself, with some fill in from Shooter Jennings(Waylon Jennings's son) the film will go to that first day, I found out other parts of the female anatomy can be just as sweet as the usual items on the he and she grocery list. Yes that first smooch of a foot. To my first French Kiss, to the beginnings of posing gals with bikes, albeit bicycles and mini motor bikes, for magazines. To Miss Jensen at Crestview Elementary that turned me into a worshiper of great legs. To that fateful day in that tiny hole under the parking lot of the Church next to Crestview, where the Baja Boys, that later would turn into the Street Commanders Club, that well, I’m giving too much away, but each step of me will illuminate the baby steps that built the momentum to the creation of the Hazzard Knytes. To the evolution to the Knytes-of-Anarchy to the bringing to life HazzardAyre and so on.

All told there will be 100 women cast for the film, with the male leads being done by club members.

But the question I have is and you are thinking, Why did they do that? HazzardAyre needs it.

Tech problems abound this evening with the network, but I’ll be on air, Monday night.

This is something that really is, not just a gimmick from a publicist

When I start barking to neighbors and potential associates of the club, many do not take it seriously. And justifiably so, shute there's not one of us completely by ourselves could do much but sit and dream. But just on intake of dues monies , that’s $150K a month. Add to that corporate sponsors and the club, brings in just under $20,million a year. Of course that’s spread out over 50 states and 2,000 members each, and that’s not including the AyreWolvez, the AyreWolvez bring that in at $300,000.00 a month, and just under $50million a year.

Now then somebody last night over Tequila and few beers asked why a movie? The easiest way to get at it, is, why not a movie chronicling the history of the Knytes, to put it even simpler, bring in Howard Stern. He did a movie on his career to boost his notoriety, and you see what happened there. While doing the same thing, and looking for slightly different results may seem ludicrous, still , what worked for Stern, will work for us.

So then, I see all too many celebrities on Facebook, with places to like their fan pages. But if you send them a comment, that’s all you see is that comment on the page but few times do you really talk or are posting it to them. I place many comment’s on the on TV Cooter’s wife, and yet get little if any response. If there is one, its again from some publicist. Next I got on board with Lisa Kelly from IRT fame who had up a page . But do you think she really read any of my comments? No. So what she’s a blonde hottie that can bring in viewers cause she can drive a truck over an Iced over river? Big deal, I want to see Lisa Kelly in a tow truck winching out a rig that sunk through the ice, or got stuck in a drift.

The same thing goes for Selena Gomez. I was a real fan of hers for quite a long time, but her flame has done blew out. After Wizards of Waverly Place, the deal with Bieber, and all, plus me finding out that just to get her to the Hazzard Nationals(DukesFestWest) it would cost $600k I thought naw, I ain’t into greed.
