So how do you get a TV station’s attention?

hazzardayre poster boardCOLONELS PHOOTENOTES

So how do you get a TV station’s attention when they become as a mule? First go to the trouble of producing your own ad, such as we’re having to do, which is what got us together with Antwanette in the first place.

That’s right, go down to TV Specialists in Salt Lake City, rent some gear for the day, write your own script, and shoot your own ad, the local TV station is too busy or stuck up to do it, after all they are doing newscast shoots, chasing the same stories that every other station is, when through a sponsor they could gain an exclusive be that as it may.

Next with a finished, ready to air ad, the script to it and about a couple of grand, go to the TV station, don’t just call, go there. Talk to the General Manager there, not just a sales geek, or sales manager, talk to the head guy. Then your most likely going to get someone’s attention. Especially if you tell the GM you’ve been working to get something on their station since mid May early June.

As I’ve said it in Idaho, and now here in Utah, there’s broadcast Radio, there’s broadcast TV, then there is HazzardAyre, in short HazzardAyre gets it done.

See ya’ll Monday.

So what makes things different now than a year ago?

QUICK LINKayrenotes

So what makes things better now than it was a year ago? Or even several years ago? Simple, I now have the money that the Feds, and the Marines give me each month, at my disposal. In other words, I have my money in my hands, each month without going through a payee, or a handler. Likewise the club is being a bit easier in giving money when its justified. But as for me, each month on the first, I go to bank, I get money, no more having to go through ten people on a board of directors as it was with Cousin Bud and the Montgomery Foundation, I no longer have to be a steely eyed wolf looking at the mailbox like a hungry wolf looking at a fawn looking at dinner, just to get a meezly few hundred bucks, or having to ask everybody for chew money. That’s what makes it different.

As for communications its no longer tethered to just Cable-One or Comcast, with us with Digis, Our Boise, Buhl, Twin Falls and Burley stations can have Internet, add to that Pocatello, Blackfoot Idaho. As for TV, this year is the last season of SOA, and outside of a very few TV channels a digital antenna and a tuner gets-r-done. Quite frankly there’s not much on cable or satellite any more that I want to, or desire to watch.

Now then talking about TV even local.

I love the programming on METV, especially running Black Sheep Squadron. You’d think that the local affiliate of METV would get excited about honoring the request of a group, that is comprised mostly of Veterans who flew with as well as currently serve in the REAL VMA214 based out of Yuma Arizona. More over one would think that TV stations and a small network, who I’ll bet your next inspection, could use more ad dollars. Yet we get ignored, sounds like the same fight we had in Twin at ch-11 there don’t it.

What I can’t fathom is that a group, that rakes in just over $2,million a year in revenue both dues and sponsorships, is having such a time , getting an

ad on METV ? Just to create a buzz on TV bringing awareness to military aviation enthusiasts as well as all BlackSheep Veterans that there is a streaming online radio station out there just for them. Is Ch-4 and its sales crew, military insensitive? Is Ch-4 too arrogant to respond to a sales inquiry, and more over do we as a club, have to put up our own TV station just get this done? There is a digital signal out there that leases for $3,000.00 a month that we can indeed put up a station.

Look at what we have done with HazzardAyre Radio, do we have to put up HazzardAyre TV as well? Just to get the locals here to sit up and give us some attention? A simple response to our inquiry here would be great as well. All the sales team at Ch-4 needs to do with regard to us on METV is send us an email saying we don’t want your account. Then we could look elsewhere. But keeping us on extended hold, is just not professional. If Broadcast TV wants to go the distance, with so many other platforms and ways to watch , having a stuck up sales team is not going to gain you any favorites. In fact your station could in fact loose the next license renewal application.

Time to go home.

Now if we could just get rid of the weight restrictions

hazzardayre poster boardAyreBreefs

Of course let’s now turn to the number 2 reason I did a temp relocate to Utah.

Sadly even with everything Twin Falls and greater Magic Valley are of Idaho has, there is not a real helicopter air school.

Now its not that I can’t fly one, but there is no transition from military flying to civilian flying, so to get to fly again I needed to go to air school.

The single school at Joslin Air Field in Twin Falls, has only light weight Robbison 22 helicopters to train in. Nothing larger and at 253 pounds I’m too heavy for little birds. So Upper Limit Aviation here has bigger training equipment. So I elected to relocate to attend the school. Main limitation is funds, although I can get student aid or a student loan for going there, they have not been too responsive in returning phone calls. Secondly I’m hammering the AyreWolvez, to help find me a CFI to help me get my GA, and rotorcraft ratings.

Idaho itself has a long legacy in aviation. It used to be to get a business license in Idaho, one had to have access to or be a pilot. Of course that has changed, but I love to fly, the feeling of getting off the ground, seeing the world from 20,000 feet, humming along at 400mph, getting to a place in an hour or two rather than 4 hours on the road and battling traffic and idiots. Sadly I’m stuck in the hangar turning wrenches while the rest of the Wolf-Pack of the AyreWolvez are flying, simply because I’m 253 pounds and have type 2 diabetes, which should not restrict me to flying, per FAA regs.

Sadly though Upper Limit has ignored me, so I have to look at a school in Boise.

Chock another one up for Idaho. I keep saying I may be in Utah, but this Idaho spud will not be transplanted.

I’m pretty much tired of NASCAR

hazzardayre poster boardHazzardAyre PhooteNotes

Now this is going to sound bad from my Southern upbringing but hear me out.

I have gotten to the point I just can’t hardly stand NASCAR any more. One can’t keep up on the changing rules, the drivers all act like a bunch of spoiled brats with some serious play money, that are not of the roots of the sport were nor care to be. Fewer still have any kind of southern ancestry. Every week it’s a fight over being bumped, or moved over. The cars are from being anything like Stock cars. In the origination of the sport we even had convertables , there was the pioneers, Cale, Richard , Dale senior, DE senior, and so on. Today it’s a bunch of snot nosed , wannabees that get their ass kicked on the track then cry like a baby to NASCAR officials. Schute, suck it up, take the loss, go back to the shop , build a better car see you next week.

Feminazi’s want more women in the sport. I agree, here in the greater Twin Falls Idaho area we have Mirinda, who by the way is one of only 5 voting members of the Knytes, but runs a team called Rebel Racing. I’d love to see Mirinda out on a major track, she’s got moxy and could kick Danica Patrick’s mini skirt tail all over the major and short tracks.

Now over in the NHRA Drag Racing series, you see women all over the place, John Force’ daughter, and others. Going against a clock in 5 seconds, at near 300 mph, that’s action.

In drag racing we can still get to and talk to the super stars and look at the cars, unlike NASCAR today. Today you can’t even get in the pit area unless you suck a NASCAR officials prick.

Yes I’m southern, but I’ve lost my lust for NASCAR, and while some of our southern traditions are worth holding onto and honoring their past, perhaps NASCAR until it fixes itself is one we should forget.

We love NHRA.

Sorry about that but I’m burning out

hazzardayre poster boardAYREWOLFBLOGHEADER

Last evening at 18:00 hours I did something that I have not done since 1984. I left before starting an air shift for HazzardAyre Radio.

While I’m still all energetic about the operation and what it can do, I’m likewise, getting rather burned out on it as well.

One or even the 2 of us in Utah that manage this here in Utah, and 3 in Idaho one at 3 locations just does not cut it.

The expense, time consumption, the sweat and worry over both on air people , the talent searches, and trying to get some awareness of the network on local TV stations, and all the rest has me to a point, of saying, okay I came, the station is where it needs to be, what the hell am I still doing here?

I’m thrilled with Antwanette, and all and know we have a great resource there, she is hot looking, has the personality and attitude , but she too is one person.

When BrandiWine decided to leave, AFTER , I had spent numerous nights here, trying to train and get her on board doing radio OUR way, she decides to bail. Only she knows why.

Was it the toew smooch? I think it was 80% of the reason she split, the conversation between her and her guy decided that some other guy namely the Wolf here, might be too much for her to handle. My question was, why even bother me if your not serious. Trust me fixing my trucks , servicing the rest of the fleet, and getting ready for a winter toew season, is what makes me money, and paying money to my Landlord, rather than taking money to buy gas to trek down here every day, to be here to train people, that flat do not take the gig as serious as we do.

I am counting on Antwanette, as our sister and station assistant manager. But even with that, she is only one person. She can only do so much, as unlike myself and a few others here, she has a husband and a family, outside the club. She has other things to do. Its way to early to bring on someone full time, but at least we have someone now to make sure the candles are lit, the bills paid, and maintain operations while I’m back in Twin Falls.

Yes I have elected, to go home. Lack of hangar space for the warbirds and helicopters, lack of shop/impound yard space at a reasonable price per month. Over regulation on towing in Utah which means investing nearly $20k before we can make even one dollar, the list goes on, but there’s not enough here to get me to sink in my anchor.

I saw an article yesterday on my Yahoo page about Wal-Mart, versus Costco employee pay. Wal-Mart just a smidge over minimum wage at $13.00 an hour, and Costco just a smidge over $20.00 an hour. When I see these numbers I think, are we paying too much for station employees? Think of it this way, at $30.00 an hour with a full benefit package, for on air, even $25.00 an hour for training interns , and although not exactly the tamest job in the genere still few if anyone of the female gender applies, much less comes for an interview. Then I read and saw the thing over this feminazi that cancelled out her speech at the Utah State University in Logan, yet the students there we protesting how the playing field for women is not even or level with similar jobs as men, etc, or the view of women being royalty yet here we sit, struggling to even get a bur under the saddle of any gal, to put her skirt, nylons and heels on, and come to the office/studio for even an interview or begin training.

At this rate, I could have left the radio thing in Ogden at the house, paid all my expenses on time every month, not be behind on both Comcast, nor looking at being homeless, just because a few women thought it too spooky to come to the RoadHouse to do radio.

All said if it was in an office environment they would come. Vickie at TMG said if it was in a public office, she’d send over a few of her people to interview, same noise came from Urban talent. How damn close does the office need to be to their offices? Schute, Woods Cross is just out their back door, very public, and very professional here, yet nobody comes over.

Okay can’t fix the past, but while Antwanette, is now a SAMCRO MC/KOA employee, I myself am burning out.

I’m not loosing my truck, my hot rod, nor my bike, over this, nor my aircraft, not in the current situation. So I’m renting a room in Roy for three months, putting the finishing touches on this, try to get METV 4.2 Utah, to get someone over here before I loose interest in them and just buy ads on METV the network and bypass the local affiliate, all together, and just advertise the AyreWolvez as well as HazzardAyre on METV nationally.

When it comes to Metro-Utah while there are certainly great people here, ones that really want to help us get going, there is a similar amount if not greater of a population that has no regard to growing e-commerce, not jumping on board with a flying/bikers club.

So in closing when it comes to Metro-Utah, I have done what I came for, the radio station is where its going to be , the stream is set up, so now I can leave, go home to Idaho, and do what I do best, toew.

I may have the patience of JOB , but the Knytes do not!!

QUICK LINKreaper crew journal phootenotes

While I may have the patience of JOB, the Knytes-of-Anarchy does not.

Fact, the club through both the Knytes as well as the AyreWolvez have been sitting on the dime waiting for a dollar to get some publicity on HazzardAyre on METV ch 4.2 or Comcast 104 here.

METV is now running Black Sheep Squadron, the albeit dramatized TV show based on Boyington’s book and bio.

Now TV advertising must be going super strong and I know that ain’t so, since I read the trade publications like TV stations do. So why is it , that its taken, nearly 6 months, to get Ch-4’s ad guru’s not came to see us? Granted we had something in the works once on production, but the price of the eye candy talent from Talent Management Group, was too much for what we were getting.

So then the delay was finding the right talent for the right rate. Finally, we got here.

Through the time frame its been getting shuffled off, to too many account reps.

Getting some ink or video shot to air on generic TV has either ignored us or don’t feel that they can accommodate. Whatever the reason, one would think that especially now that the mid term elections are nearly over, that with those loosing those elections not being in a big rush to pay the ad bill, that generating some serious income for a TV network would be right at the top of their to do list. Yet here we sit.

One called today just a few ago, said they’d call back yet , no return call.

What do we got to do, run ads direct to the network itself to get some local interest?

Same shit we ran into with Comcast Advertising here. The sales guy that was going to get in touch, never returned. Sure the rate on SOA was a bit up there, but certainly we could have worked around that, since SOA is one of the cores of our club. If the one guy who sells ads here wasn’t up to the task you’d think Comcast Advertising would have assigned someone else to service our needs, especially considering that this is the final run for SOA on FX. Added to that our deep Hazzard County connection and with CMT, now running the Dukes again, you’d think they’d get off their rumpus’ and get in touch, certainly coming to the studio here would be an easy deal. Nope.

So while I may have the patience of JOB, the Knytes do not!!

But then , that’s why your happy to know and tune into HazzardAyre, we Git-R-Done.

Isn’t it good the Knytes have stuck together?

QUICK LINKKNYTESSCROLLBANNER

Conceived in 1981 and made official in 1982 The Hazzard County Knytes(Knights) became the rulers, innovators and wrote the book on just what a specialty vehicle group founded on the idea that everyone, no matter their financial or abilities could build a rat rod, street cruiser , bike truck or as in my case toew truck, and have it be a custom.

Our shows were and are the ones that set a tone that few could and even today can match. We judged the rides in our shows on the basis of creativity, and effort , rather than detract for ultra minor imperfections such as a rock chip at the rocker panels or fenders.

The first Hazzard Nationals took place in Pioneer Park in Hazzard(Hagerman) Idaho in October 1984 as a benefit to a family that had just lost their home due to fire.

Since then the Hazzard Nationals, have moved from one location to another every year so that all charters members and fans could attend.

Of course even then few wanted to learn much less admit that the history being taught in schools in the Mountain West was a myth. The real title to the fiasco was called the War of Northern Aggression, not the Civil War, there was little Civility to it.

Few kids were taught and its that way much today, that Abraham Lincoln was in fact a liar, cheat, and womanizer, not the inspired all truthful leader that scholars have made him out to be.

It’s been the mission of the Hazzard County Knytes to teach these lessons. But since we do few media outlets in our area dared say anything about that, or allow us even paid ad or infomercial time. In 1986, even though we already had a radio network running, in 1986, the Hazzard County Knytes , High Council met in Boise Idaho at the Flying J Motel/Convention Center,(when it was still there) and decided we’d make Confederate aimed, Hazzard County Style radio and TV our number one objective.

Of course came in the honeys for money projects. Which was inspired by two sources, Overdrive Magazine’s DateMaster, and Truckin/Mini Truckin Magazine. With the idea that gals with rides could and can be classy, rather than trashy. Of course, getting that idea across to the modeling\agencies here as well as individual talent candidates is easier said than done.

Likewise when it comes to babes and bikes, the immediate idea is the EasyRiders style. Rather than a sensuous instead of showing too much female body, and not enough bike.

Through it all the Knytes although spread out over all 50 states, and now getting to both Hawaii and Alaska, at 1,000 members each can trace the origin of the creation of this club to a tiny café once called the Polish Palace, now known as the Snake River Grill.

In 2007 it was proposed throughout the club that a slight name alteration be made. While not unanimous was approved. With inspiration from Kurt Sutter and SOA, the Hazzard County Knytes changed to the Knytes-of-Anarchy, which enabled the club to elevate from a rural environment to a slightly urban environment.

Good economic conditions or poor, if its being done right, its being done by and through the Knytes-of-Anarchy, fighting for the individual, United through Independence.

With the disconnect of us to Comcast and its too expensive, not delivering what was promised. The thought is to reverse the whole idea of an HQ in the region of origination . Mainly keep this office here in Utah, as a sub office, but making Twin Falls our home HQ once again. With the help of Digis and SpeedConnect, the super pipeline that Comcast promised but could not give, there is no reason to keep the home HQ in Utah, there is nothing to gain except more funds being drained.

So there is that on the HUD(Heads-up-Display) having Antwanette Marie manage this office, with me only having to call or breeze down every once in awhile.

Sorry Laura, my dear, you and the club tried, but Comcast can’t deliver.

Now then, Antwanette , says I have to grow out a beard, so she can style it. Which is okay, but whiskers on my face makes my face itch.

The bottom line, rather than bring LexiBelle > lexi in green minidown here to me in Utah, I’m going to LexiBelle.
