This morning I grudgingly put on my snow gear, walked out to Sylver Myst, and went to church. The lesson was about how what you see on the surface is not always what is under the front.
Many people including the ones who sniff around at the talent jobs we in The Knytes-of-Anarchy post on both CraigsList and other places. They visit the house and seldom call again. If you call them back, you get voice mail, because they see your number on caller ID and ignore you.
But what turned them off? They came to the house, saw a biker looking confederate Marine, and decided this ain’t for me.
Think of this, When the Son of God was born that we celebrate and memorialize this time of year, was born, not in a palace, not in a golden bed, not in a big city, but a stock feeding bin, in a barn in a very small town, and he is the son of God who created or caused to be created everything in the entire universe.
There are countless examples, of this but even the Knytes and myself, just because you see someone living a simple life that is not putting up a see what I got front, does not mean, there is no gas in the tank or money in the bank to do what we are looking to do both media and event wise.
It’s like the thing we were rolling out in Gooding, in 2009. That was on the verge of hitting the big brass ring. Some big gal got jealous of Nurse GoodBody and decided to call one of the stations looking to put us on their station through syndication. Of course her phone call kicked that in the but. The thing is there was a malfunction in mail delivery from Salt Lake City, the money was there to pay Mr. Strickland, but he got greedy, and changed the locks on the studio, while I went to get dinner. Purtty sneaky don’t ya’ll think? Ever since then, Nurse GoodBody hasn’t got a really good gig , and finds it difficult to get the divine urge to jump back in fully. Okay fine, but KDXB and HazzardAyre Radio got a revival and a second chance.
As you might know the folks at RFDTV, bought the Christian based American Family Network. RFDTV gave us a pitch in 2009 of $200K a month to do an early morning show, replacing Don Imus in the morning. Well RFDTV through its Rural AFN network, has been chatting with the Knytes to put together a Hazzard County style variety and news show for late night.
Same rate as before. Now I don’t know about Nurse Goodbody but the club and I love the idea of being able to generate both for the club and me, $200K a month.
So maybe now Nurse GoodBody, might get a revelation that now is the time to jump back in the pond.
I’ve never been one to be phony, so even with this gig, don’t expect me to dress in a tie, or suit, or ride in a Limo, I’ll just stay this long haired Confederate on the radio and on TV . But just like it was on Christmas Day, Jesus came into the world in the display of some rather humble surroundings. As I said, don’t judge things by what you see on the surface, there might be some serious horsepower under the hood.
Like the line from Wizards of Waverly Place’s theme song says , “ Not everything is as it seems”.
