What started it all

gitrdone hedderHazzardAyre Welcome Header

There’s an old axiom that goes, to know where your going , you have to at least look where you have been. Better yet give credit to that what lit the light in the first place.

Too bad many actors don’t ever give credit to some movies that gave was the wind beneath their wings and rise to stardom.

In our case it all started in 1974, a bunch of ratchet jawing teens wanting to go trailer trucking, decided to form a group. With some help from the 4-H clubs of America, a small band of light duty local haulers in the Magic Valley of Idaho along with some from Layton Utah, became the TeenAge Truckers Association. Modeled after the infamous Independent Truckers Association founded by Mike Parkhurst, also founder of the OTR long haulers magazine Overdrive, the TeenAge Truckers Association became the creators of much of the dialog, that restored and inspired much of the economic growth of the areas in which there was a TTA chapter.

Because the ITA had a magazine we reasoned why not a radio station, so a search for equipment began, and in the spring of 1975, budding little 200 watt KDSL(Kay-Diesel) FM 89.1 went on the air. Kicking butt on all radio stations in the area and creating programming for one demographic the rest forgot, that man or woman making their living driving a truck.

KDSL ran until 1983. When a demo inclusion of us going toewing, became the focus. Along with our Hazzard County radio efforts there was still the need to keep what hauled us here. in 1984 KTOW FM signed on and replaced KDSL, which became our AM station at AM 1090, which ran until July 2012, when KDOH AM became our AM call letters.

Even today, the undercurrent has not been HazzardAyre, but rather a radical truly rebel, truckers show called; Dixie Diesel Trucker Radio, which was syndicated to over 50 major and medium market radio stations across America and Canada. >>>dixie diesel logoThe little kick butt truckers show, showed that what all too many thought taboo on radio, could be done without creating a stampede by the predominant LDS, church officials. More over, many of the drivers of Deseret Transportation the church’s trucking company were tuned in nightly. Who says ya’ll have to drink and smoke weed to have fun?

In 1995, Dixie Diesel got a shot in the arm, tiny radio station KOAL in Price Utah, gave two nights a week, overnight, to air LIVE Dixie Diesel Radio. Of course our custom big rig shop, that was the first in the nation tricking out big rig over the road long haul trucks, long b4 there was a Chrome Shop Mafia, was the main sponsor.

In 1997, the offer came to buy what was the Interstate Trucker Radio Network. Dixie Diesel and the by then the United American Independent Truckers Association which is the grown up version of the TTA, bought the ITRN. ITRN, is what is now the HazzardAyre/Confederate Star Radio Network, and as such. The home of HazzardAyre Radio, but overnight through the deep myst, when there’s supposed to be quiet and most are asleep. OTR truckers passing through Idaho and Utah as well as southwestern Wyoming are kept company, by Dixie Diesel Radio, from a tiny house on a lonely corner in Twin Falls, as rigs pass by picking up loads from Idaho Frozen Foods, someone is watching your back and riding second seat, that is>>>>dixie diesel logo.

And now you know.

It is better to aim at perfection and miss, than to aim at imperfection and hit it
