Making dreams a success, even in small towns

phootenotes

In the very rural town of Roberts Idaho with a population near as small as Bliss, is a renowned eating place like no other in Idaho.

For us of southern culture it’s the kind of place that we in The Knytes base our idea of a bar/grill. But I’m getting off topic.

The place did not start off as it has become. When BJ’s there in Roberts started it was in a moderate length wise grain bin. Together BJ , his mother and a few siblings turned BJ’s into a Cajun, southern paradise. Today , BJ’s is open 4 nights a week and entry is by reservation only. In back and next door is the VOODOO Lounge. Numerous articles have been written about BJ’s>2633_63003223502_3130992_nbut from one who has experienced the place, eating gumbo and crawdad, drinking Dixie area brews and digging on classic New Orleans Jazz, it makes one not want to ever leave. But it says one thing, dreams can come true, aspirations can happen, even in a small town. The trick, not to say it can’t be done, or can’t be done here. It may take awhile, and your going to bump heads, and yes Roberts does enjoy having a 100,000 population town just 20 miles away and income from the NAVY the NAVY runs the reactor over near ARCO, but still I look at both Buhl and Hazzard(Hagerman) and think, why does everything have to be in Twin Falls or Boise? Can’t we do what they do here? The problem besides many of the female gender who fear for their safety, from a crew of bikers and pilots, is that the greater Magic Valley was growing , but slammed on the brakes due to fears of what if we grow too much. The area economy lost some major players in jobs, and thus, decided to just give up. Add that to the area clannish thing that used to be just in small towns, that has grown to near pandemic proportions, here. Buhl and Hazzard are more open minded.

Any way my vision is fading, too many brews at lunch, need to sleep this off to be able to handle toew calls on a Pay Day Friday. See ya’ll on the radio Saturday.
