Mastering the kraft

HAZZARDAYRE BLOG HEDDER2AYREWOLFBLOGHEADER

There is an art if you will, of assembling content for an online as well as a over the air radio station. Then there is the art of delivering that content. It’s not the easy task that many can’t or wont even try. The profession will burn one out quickly, especially if your wearing all the hats, from the manager, program director, human resources manager, news director and then on air person. It makes for 13 hour days even on easy days. Then in my case finding time to fly, go on tows and do some wrenching on my equipment, it again makes for very long days and not much overnight sleep. Then there is finding time to at least shovel some sort of food in my mouth, going to the latrine, and do domestic chores. Hell I rinse my shorts in the sink, as there’s hardly any time to go do laundry.

Once you get past that its climb inside your radio every night into early morning, catching a few hours of sleep between 09:00 to noon, then doing it all over again, with the only time out is going to Church. Even after Church I’m back on the job getting things to do radio again overnight.

Some guy on our Livestream page was commenting about cases of dead air. Hey if I had the leggy female in the studio co-anchoring the show, perhaps when I got a tow call, my main bread and butter , there wouldn’t be dead air, but when Smokey or County Mounty calls my truck is in motion. A few times of denial of service or not responding customers and law enforcement start calling other tow jockeys . Like Beth Ann of CsC Talk Radio says and I have heard this for years upon years, if your not part of the solution don’t bitch about the problem.

When it comes to radio the Live , real LIVE personality is near a lost thing. Although many personalities of this craft, have went the way of Pod Casts, and that’s not bad, in fact that’s what we did, but our webcasts are frequently LIVE truly LIVE , not recorded affairs. Thus there’s bound to be mistakes occasionally and yes that dreaded thing in radio , DEAD AIR.

Why the leggy ladies in the studio? Stern did it with Robin Quivers, we decided to do it up Hazzard County/HeeHaw style, but with the same southern kountry grit.

Some independent stations do a bunch of voice tracking or farming programming. We are not any different, but we only do two voice network things here on HazzardAyre, and the rest of our channels on Livestream. NPR news, and CsC Talk Radio. the rest we do live 24/7/365. Plus there’s the over the air programming we do that is not on Livestream.

So to all the detractors and complainers, I say if you think you can do what I do better, with all the tasks I need to do daily, your more than welcome to apply to us for a career opportunity. Otherwise shut the heck up.
